Serene Wyatt's (
) characters from the natal nautical epic "Anchor Dog." God, I haven't drawn them in so long. I wanted to see how their look was evolving.
Left to Right - Anchor (Pirate Captain, Duck Toller/Pit Bull mix), Vince (First Mate, Min-Pin and assorted flavors), Briggs (able seaman, random Sheepdog), Irven (Ambitious young swab, Borzoi mutt(?)).
Vince I'm completely out of shape with, and Irven's head doesn't look as good when 'wide' as I'd hoped. I'm finally getting the hang of Anchor's ears and Briggs' overall head shape. (Getting the bandanna to look like it fits over that hare - can you say 'Model Issues?')
Yet another thought about the project - I saw this flick while channel-surfing that I don't know what it's called (maritime epic devoid of plot) where the Brigantine the action takes place on is full of ropes and cables around the field of vision. I don't know if it'd work in animation, where it's too much work to move them according to depth, but it looks hella cool on pitch art! XD

Effing love this ahhh! I am also in love with the evolving process of drawing characters, everything is so far from being set in stone that just drawing these guys is like a surprise every time!
And eh! seems like it'd be possible to pull off some pretty neat tricks with moving the ships ropes in and out of frame without it looking awkward, definitely something to keep in mind! POOR ANCHOR, I've only done the occasional doodle of her and the crew lately!
This is such a great, and hella adorable, interaction piece! A classic moment for the doggy crew, I'd say!
